A Vampire Facelift® is a non-surgical procedure that can help you achieve youthful, rejuvenated skin. It involves taking platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood and injecting it into areas of your face. This adds volume, leading to a healthier look because your body takes advantage of PRP for its healing and regenerative properties.
At Ver Halen Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, the Vampire Facelift is a quick, outpatient procedure. You can enjoy the benefits the same day, although full results take about three weeks to show. Once they appear, you’ll enjoy them for months, perhaps a year or more. Some of our clients have had results last up to 18 months.
A Vampire Facelift can treat many different problem areas in your face, including:
- ‘Bunny lines’ (wrinkles on your nose)
- ‘Crow’s feet’ (lines at the corners of your eyes)
- Lines at the corners of the mouth
- Forehead wrinkles
- Smile lines
- Frown lines
- Plumping of the cheeks
Eligibility for the Vampire Facelift
If you show advanced signs of aging, you could benefit more from BOTOX injections or surgical treatment. If you have less visible signs of aging, then you’re likely a good candidate for the Vampire Facelift.
Vampire Facelift vs. Vampire Facial®
A Vampire Facial is not the same as a Vampire Facelift. The Facial uses microneedling with PRP applied topically to your skin. In contrast, the Facelift uses a hyaluronic-acid-based filler (for example, JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, Revanesse®) and PRP together. They are injected under the skin instead.
The procedures can complement each other. While the Facial is designed to improve the appearance of skin, the Facelift helps to add volume.

A personal consultation with one of our provdiers is the best way to determine if the Vampire Facelift is right for you.
Vampire Facelift: The Procedure
The Vampire Facelift uses a combination of two substances:
- Hyaluronic acid (e.g. Restylane or JUVÉDERM)
- Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) – This is just a thicker form of PRP (platelet-rich plasma).
The first step is for your provider to inject the hyaluronic acid dermal filler into the target area of your face. This dermal filler doesn’t paralyze the facial muscles as BOTOX does, which means they can add volume without affecting your facial movements and expressions. Adding fillers is an art, and both Elaine and Dr. Ver Halen have years of experience. They use that experience plus their technical skills and artistic eye to achieve the best possible results.
A nurse will then draw some of your blood, just as in any blood test. That blood will be spun in a centrifuge to separates the PRP from the darker components of your blood, made up red blood cells. Platelet-rich plasma appears as a clear yellow serum after separation.
Calcium chloride is then added to the PRP to make it thicker and longer-lasting. The result is PRFM, which is injected after a numbing cream is applied to your face. This ensures a near-painless procedure.
PRFM helps enhance facial skin quality in a number of ways:
- Increasing the formation of new blood vessels and increasing blood flow to the skin – The result is healthier, more youthful-looking skin.
- Increasing the formation of new skin cells, leading to skin renewal
- The production of new collagen, the component of the skin that is lost during aging
- Activating stem cells in your skin, leading to the generation of new fatty tissue
Vampire Facelift: The Recovery
The Vampire Facelift takes just 30 minutes and is an outpatient procedure. There is very little recovery time. You could have a vampire facelift during your lunch break and be back to finish the rest of your day.
On the day of the treatment—and the following day—you may experience some redness and tenderness. But this won’t feel too different than sunburn. The skin absorbs most of the PRP in 24 hours, so in a couple of days, you should feel completely normal.
The Vampire Facelift Combined with Other Procedures
We can certainly combine a Vampire Facelift with other procedures to maximize a youthful appearance. Some patients combine it with BOTOX or Dysport®. Let us know if you’re interested in this, and we’ll discuss these options with you and develop a treatment plan that suits your needs.
Vampire Facelift Risks
Since the Vampire Facelift is a non-surgical procedure, there are fewer risks when compared to surgical treatments, such as a facelift. For instance, no incisions need to be made, so there’s no scarring. The Vampire Facelift doesn’t require anesthesia, so you won’t experience any of the side effects or risks associated with that. Also, there’s no risk of allergic reaction, since PRP is taken from your own blood.
There are still a few risks associated with a vampire facelift that you should be aware of:
- Mild irritation
These side effects are temporary. They aren’t likely to persist for more than 24 hours.
How to Pay for a Vampire Facelift
The Vampire Facelift is a relatively inexpensive procedure. But if you are combining procedures, there are different financing options available. Ver Halen Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery accepts several payment options, including healthcare credit cards issued by Synchrony Bank (CareCredit®) and Comenity® Capital Bank (Alphaeon Credit®).
You can opt for a secured loan from United Medical Credit or Enhance Patient Finance. United Medical Credit is great for prime and subprime lenders and has multiple plan options and flexible terms.
You can also pay by:
- Credit card
- Cashier’s check
- In-house financing
- Other types of loans
